Dems take the House, almost break even in Senate

This election was no less than a referendum on the corruption, lying, cheating, and rampant stealing that always seems to follow the Republicans into the majority. And all I have to say is: yippee!

Also, this is endlessly fascinating to me:

Break Down House

You can clearly see that almost every stereotype about voter breakdown is statistically reinforced. The only thing that amazes me is that any women at all vote Republican, much less 43% of them. I mean, this is the party that is trying to take your choice away from you, ladies.

But then again, there is always a bunch of Arab women who vote to keep wearing the burkha. I imagine that once you’ve been programmed from birth to be a second class citizen, it’s hard to think of yourself as anything but a tool for someone else’s use.

it's hard to break out of those thought patterns, even in the US, and plenty of families still hand that sort of crap down

it's depressing how often i come across women who have just that attitude. i hope future mothers will program that out of their daughters.

Abortion and freedom of choice is the number one reason why I vote Dem. Number one.

My body, my uterus, my choice. The government has no place in my uterus.

Oh, there was a guy on the ticket who wanted to make it illegal for a woman to have an abortion and if she had one, even in the case of incest or rape, she would go to jail.

Can you imagine?

I don't even want to try and wrap my brain around that one.

Yes, I can imagine, Party Girl. It was called 1973. Before Roe v Wade that was what America was like. Jail or back alley abortions or "the home remedy" or, possibly worst of all, appearing before a board of certified doctors and begging to have your pregnancy terminated.

Okay, that didn't even enter my mind when I heard this proposal. How sad that it didn't.

I don't take it for granted as it is something that I am very aware of whenever there is a fight over outlawing it. However, pre-1973 didn't even enter my mind.

Thanks for the kick in the head.

I agree with Party Girl 100% My Body, my choice.
The government, the Conservative Right and that ilk need to back away. Back away from the uterus.
