Flash Fiction Friday #12
Just in case you run into someone and want to impress them with your ability to dabble in fiction under the gun, I should tell you that the Flash Fiction sites I’ve previously been involved with allow you something life five hours to get the story up. Generally, they’ll post the sentence at 7:00PM and you have to have your story up by midnight.
We’re just here to have fun, so I stretched the deadline a bit – okay, a lot - but if you’re ever interested in trying it Hard Core, let me know.
Otherwise, here are the rules:
You will write an anecdote or very short story beginning with the sentence below.
You will add comments to this post indicating your desire to participate and the completion of your story. You may join in at any time prior to the deadline.
You will display your story as a post on your own blog.
You will be done by Monday 12:00 Noon CST.
Those are all the rules, if you ask me about the rules or if something is or isn't allowed by the rules, I will put your dog on your best couch and scare him so badly he both pees and vomits all over it.
And here is the sentence (as suggested be an avid FFF’er):
The children are gone...

25 Comments:
I'm in. (Especially since you used the word "vomit" in your post.)
I'm in. Oh yes, I'm in.
Finally, something I feel like writing about.
I'm in.
I'm in
Count me in like Flynn (although I'm not writing anything til the morning because my cold and I are off to bed. Sniff sniff).
I'm in too. Carly, you should be, it's your suggestion, isn't it?
No way 5 hours is enough. Work, kids, trying to build a 2nd career on the side... and to find the time to actually read the FFF first line... Goddess, I mean it's 11:34 pm and I'm just now getting to it! That means I'd have 26 minutes to create something brilliant.
JJ, stick with the Monday deadline. We'll all stress less.
:)
is the dog going to pee and vomit simultaneously? Because that would be awesome.
It's a half-assed, uninspired attempt, but I'm done.
I'm in, and I'm done.
Here it is:
A Goose Lane Morning
I was referred here by sweettrini... looks like fun, I'm in for this weekend too.

I'm in! (Though starting a bit late)...
I'm in ... a bit slow off the mark, but it.
And here is my effort:
Children's Games
Started going one way, then sort of went another.
Ok, I'm finished...The Children Are Gone
I finished
Walk well.
In and done.

Trying this again. Let's hope my writing's better than my coding...
The Children are Gone.
For what it is worth ... Here's my suggestion for a Flash Fiction exercise ... Rewrite your most recent Flash Fiction submission from another character's perspective.
It's just an idea. I'm not sure I even like it - I may even hate it. But I thought I'd throw it out there. It might make for some interesting writing. On the other had, it may be best relegated to File 13.
Argh. Bring on the dog vomit. I'm not going to make it. Shame on me.
